Author profiling, a problem of growing importance in applications in forensics, security, and marketing, distinguishes between classes of authors studying their sociolect aspect, that is, how language is shared by people. We will see how syntactic n-grams as features help us in identifying profiling aspects (particularly age and gender) of an author. Syntactic n-gram are syntactically related words by following the path in syntax tree, even though those words are not immediate neighbours. We will observe how syntactic n-grams are different from traditional n-grams an d how they impact results.
