On Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. (Montreal time), we hold a one-hour talk on a language processing or linguistics topic. It is typically offered in hybrid mode (in person/videoconference). Once a month, the talk is organized by the French research group Linguistique Informatique, Formelle et de Terrain.

This presentation will discuss and demonstrate the word prediction technology used within WordQ Writing Aid Software. WordQ software is a writing tool used along with standard Windows word processing software to provide spelling, grammar, and punctuation assistance. It uses advanced word prediction to suggest words for you to use and provides spoken (text-to-speech) feedback. Users of all ages who have problems writing and editing can benefit, including those who have a learning disability (LD) such as Dyslexia, or who are learning English as a second language (ESL). A Canadian and US English version of WordQ is now commercially available. French, German, Spanish, Swedish, Danish and Dutch versions are underdevelopment.
