Curating an Open Information Extraction KB Using Games with a Purpose
The project
Researchers: Kevin Forand and Philippe Langlais
This project aims to explore the use of games with a purpose (GWAP) to help curate a knowledge base generated from a collection of noisy triples extracted using open information extraction (OIE) methods applied on the French Wikipedia. The games can be accessed here.
OIE
Open information extraction is a powerful tool to acquire large quantities of triples from texts. Sadly a non-negligible portion of the extracted triplets are considerable noisy or uninformative and therefore a validation phase can help ensure an acceptable quality of the resulting knowledge base.
The games
The task of validating a knowledge base this large in a reasonable amount of time is an intimidating task for most teams. To alleviate the burden of such task we decided to use games with a purpose as a crowdsourcing tool.
We currently propose these three games:
Simple game
Drag the entities toward the best answer.
Pinball game
Move the balls toward the appropriate answers (bottom) using the paddles.
Intruder elimination game
Click on the balloons of intruder entities.
The games can be accessed here.
