RALI-OLST-ILFC Weekly Talks

On Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. (Montreal time), we hold a one-hour talk on a language processing or linguistics topic. It is typically offered in hybrid mode (in person/videoconference). Once a month, the talk is organized by the French research group Linguistique Informatique, Formelle et de Terrain.

Since the advent of the computer age, terminology has been managed with the use of databases, which contain term denominations and other information, but do not work with concepts. In the last decade, some projects have been organizing terms in the form of ontologies, using methods similar to those used by computer experts. Nevertheless, this approach may give rise to some problems, and does not solve those that already exist when working with concepts. Therefore, we propose an alternative way to deal with concepts in ontologies.
