It is widely believed that to progress further on certain tasks, we need to push deeper in terms of semantic interpretation. Semantic interpretation of narrative discourse is applicable to tasks such as question answering and summarization. In this talk, I focus on biographical summarization, which is aimed at constructing a summary of the key events in a person's life. I will suggest how elements in a chronology (called event factoids) can be useful in biographical summarization and its evaluation.
